Our First Meetup at Dissidence Bar

Last Friday we had our first Friday meetup at Dissidence Bar in Barcelona and it turned out to be a fantastic night. Around 30 people from different countries joined the event, creating a very international and friendly atmosphere. Some people were new to the city while others had been living in Barcelona for a while, but everyone was excited to meet new people.

Throughout the evening, people shared stories about their experiences in Barcelona, talked about travel, work, and life in different countries, and of course enjoyed a few drinks together. The colorful graffiti-style interior of Dissidence Bar gave the place a really unique vibe and made it a perfect spot for our meetup.

A Very International Group

One of the best things about our meetups is the diversity of the people who join. On this night we had participants from many different countries, including Europe, Asia, and the Americas. It was great to see new friendships forming and people exchanging recommendations about places to visit in Barcelona.

Many attendees mentioned how nice it was to find an international community where they could easily meet new friends in the city.

People playing virtual reality game at Warpoint Barcelona VR arena

Choose your Weapon : Virtual Reality at warpoint 🕶️🎮🤖

Virtual reality has become increasingly popular over the years, with people enjoying games at home with friends. Wargames takes that social aspect a step further.

Wargames is a virtual reality centre where you can enjoy gun battles with a group of friends. It also offers VR Arena Battles and various VR games across different genres, including sports, fantasy, shooters, and quests.

Before the battle begins, you are divided into two teams, provided with a headset, and briefed on the rules and how to make the most of the session. The game starts, and you choose your weapon  options include an Uzi, rifle, handgun, and others depending on your mood 🙂 It’s up to each team to develop their own strategy, and the objective is simple: whichever team has the highest number of kills after five rounds wins.

You play in increments of 30 minutes, which can, of course, be extended. Statistics on hits and kills are shown after each round, helping to maintain a sense of momentum and competition.

The battle is fun, tense, and adrenaline-filled. It definitely keeps you on your toes. The effects are excellent, allowing you to become fully immersed in the game. Time passes quickly, and it will leave you buzzing and ready for more.

Bungee fitness in Barcelona gym

Bungee Fitness: A Dynamic Form of Exercise That Emphasizes Play and Fun

Bungee Fitness, is a high energy, low impact workout, which combines elements of dance, aerobics and resistance training. An exercise that has been inspired by circus techniques; participants wear a harness attached to an actual bungee cord suspended from the gym’s ceiling.

The bungee cord creates a sense of weightlessness and allows you to bounce off the ground with each movement. The elasticity of the bungee cord absorbs the shock on impact, reducing stress on the joints, making it a knee, hip and back friendly workout! As the contact with the ground is moderate, it is an exercise designed for all fitness levels and abilities.

The routines themselves have been designed to be fun and engaging, and incorporate movements such as walking, running, star jumps, squats and spinning through the air on the rope. Combined with playlists that are upbeat and energetic to match the mood. The nature of bouncing and flying through the air, gives a sense of freedom and play, like the carefree feeling of messing about when you were a kid! By its nature, its an empowering activity that makes you step out of your comfort zone, in the classes I have been to I’ve noticed that people can’t help but smile and laugh.

As well as having fun, Bungee Fitness offers a lot of benefits. It is a complete full body workout. It combines the traditional advantages of a cardio workout; increase in energy levels, stamina, reduction in body fat percentage, with resistance training, through the use of elastic bands. You need to make an effort just to walk a few steps in bungee fitness, this helps to build strength and endurance.

It is also a good core workout. The bungee cords create instability, so your body relies on your core muscles to maintain stability during the workout, this leads to the strengthening of your abs and back. The workout also enhances coordination, flexibility and agility. There are also added mental health benefits, the adrenaline filled classes help to boost your mood, reduce stress and improve overall mental health.

So why not give it a try? Bungee Fitness is open to everyone, whether you’re a fitness enthusiast or someone who thinks they have two left feet! 😊

You can find many gyms offering bungee fitness around the city.
